Award-winning wildlife artist Dr Alan Taylor from Yarm on Tees, is passionate about animal welfare and is a member of the Association of Animal Artists.
His love of of art began as a teenager when he experimented with oil paints, but he left this behind for a career in science.
Years later, a career change led him to teaching concept art for computer games and to be so impressed with his students' drawing skills, that he was inspired to develop his own use of pencils.
Alan, a member of the Guild Society of Artists, says he loves using pastels and colour pencils to capture the wide range of colours and character of the animals. His work can be found in galleries across the North.
