ANNE JAMES CERAMICS

Anne James, works from her home studio in Northumberland's North Tyne Valley, were her ceramics are inspired by textures and nature.
Growing up in rural Perthshire, holidays to the Mull of Kintyre, led to a passion for collecting pebbles and sea glass, which she still loves and often incorporates into her work. She also uses vintage wallpapers and unusual items she finds on her travels.
"I love to build up layers of texture, then use multiple glazes to decorate the object", says Anne, who trained as a scientist, but decided to change careers and work as a ceramicist instead.
She works mainly in porcelain, but also in stoneware for larger pieces."I create both functional and decorative pieces, as well as jewellery and Christmas decorations. Every piece a one-off and totally unique."
If you would like to commission a special piece then please get in touch with her.
