Wild northumberland.jpg

Jo's paintings are a response to the inspiration she finds in the wild Northumberland countryside and coastline surrounding her studio at Felton. She says that for her, walking in that landscape is part of the artistic process, where feelings and glimpses find their way onto the canvas in her own bold, expressionistic style.

Jo works mostly in acrylics and oils and describes her paintings as steadily moving towards being more purely abstract interpretations of space, light and mood.

With an M.Phil in Fine Art from Newcastle University, she has spent a life time in art education. Since retiring Jo has dedicated most of her time to painting and teaching art. She has run an art class in Felton for over 20 years.

Visits to her studio can be arranged by appointment and commissions, cards and prints are available on request.
