Kelly Beard-Foden's interest in art goes back to childhood . She gained a degree in History of Art from Warwick University and then qualified and worked as a graphic designer. She gave this up to travel with her husband before settling in South Shields, where she now lives with her young family.

Kelly spends much of her time painting landscapes and seascapes near her home, using a variety of media in her work, particularly acrylics.

Taking inspiration from the beauty of her everyday surroundings, such as the sea and trees, she is also interested in urban shapes and forms such as back lanes, manhole covers, locks and rooftops. Kelly also recently painted pieces related to running, which is her hobby.
