MARIE PHILPOTT

Marie is a silk painter from Cleadon in Tyne and Wear. She works with range of different silks, depending on how she plans to use them, using dyes and paints.
Her special area of interest is creating silk on glass pieces that are both decorative and functional. Marie's current range includes serving platters, vases, bowls and coasters.
She experiments with free-flowing techniques for more abstract work and uses gutta or wax for more traditional designs.
"What I love about silk painting is the wonderful way patterns emerge as the colours mix and blend. Each piece is totally unique."
She also creates a wide range of other hand-painted silk products including scarves, lampshades, cushion covers and pictures..
Marie has been a member of the Guild of Silk Painters since 2012 and offers talks and workshops for both individuals and groups.
