Richard O'Connor
Richard is a self-taught artist, originally from Consett in County Durham, now living in the village of Westruther in the Scottish Borders.
He works mostly in watercolour and soft pastels, painting in response to his constantly changing surroundings - from the blooms in the garden to the seasonal changes in the rural landscape, the wild open spaces and rugged drama of the coast.
Richard works both plein air and in the studio, striving to catch an echo of the energy and movement present in the landscape.
He finds painting a great source of joy, which deepens his appreciation of the gift of wonder and awe, inspired by the rich Borders country.
