Raymond Quickfall
Ray Quickfall is a self-taught artist who received his BA in fine art at the age of sixty-three. He is also author and illustrator of "Quays to Newcastle" and illustrated the Northern Folk song book. Working in watercolour, charcoal, conte and pastels he mostly paints evening scenes of his home city, Newcastle. However inspiration for his current work came unexpectedly from a family visit to New Jersey in US where he was captivated by the vibrant atmosphere and music of the jazz scene.
At the same time Ray explored the diverse, rich culture of African art, particularly South African tribal art.
