Ayton Castle

Ayton (near Eyemouth)

Berwickshire

2025 Date Coming Soon

10.30am-4pm

Free Admission to Castle & Exhibition

Art in the Castle will return to Ayton Castle for the fourth year in 2025.

Dates for the event will be announced soon.

The castle, which is still a private home, rarely opens to the public, so Art in the Castle is not only a great opportunity to visit, but also to see the work of around 20 artists from the Scottish Borders and Northumberland.

We exhibit our work in the castle's main public rooms amongst the owners' private contemporary art collection and their furniture.

The castle's little cafe will be open and the owner's diesel train will run for rides through the grounds to the castle and cafe.

There is parking at the train station and tickets for rides are available from the station kiosk.

The entrance to the station is signposted and is off the B6355 Ayton to Eyemouth Road

There is also parking in Ayton Village, which is a short walk away and limited parking on the drive in front of the castle.

There are two entrances to the castle - one is via the turreted gate in Ayton Village, the other is marked "Ayton Castle tradesmen's entrance", which is on the right as you head from Ayton toward Eyemouth on the B6355. Follow the drive to the right to the drive running parallel to the front of the castle. Please do not park on the grass and please keep the shorter drive and turning circle immediately in front of the castle's front door clear at all times for emergency access only.

Entry to the castle and exhibition is free and there is no need to book spaces or time slots.

Donations are welcome towards the Castle's fund to restore the walled gardens and grounds.

Dogs are welcome in the castle grounds, but please keep them on leads at all times as there is livestock and free-roaming peacocks.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to all the artists, makers and hundreds of visitors who joined us at our recent 2024 Art in the Castle and made it such a success.

Here's a reminder of the artists and makers who took part.

We'll be revealing the 2025 line up next spring.
