Jan is a wildlife artist who grew in Newcastle and now lives in the Scottish Borders. Much of her early inspiration came from books and family holidays to Eyemouth, where she began to share in her father's passion and enthusiasm for wildlife and the natural environment.

When she was 13 years old she attended Kings College Art School at Newcastle University, where she learned to refine and develop her skills.

Years later a move to Scotlandwith her husband and children was a dream come true and provided her with a never-ending source of inspiration.

A lifetime of dedicated study of all types of animals is evident in her detailed watercolour and gouache paintings, not only through their texture and colour, but by capturing the animals' personality, beauty and character.

In 2014 Jan was selected to become a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists and three years later became an artist member of the Paisley Art Institute.

Jan, is also a member of the Association of Animal Artists, produces a range of mounted or framed limited edition giclee prints and greeting cards.  She also paints pet portraits and is available to undertake commissions. Email: janferguson1@hotmail.co.uk
