Janice is a self-taught textile artist, whose love for embroidery started as a child, when her gran taught her to sew.
It was much later in life, after a long illness 5 years ago, that she changed career, joined a local art group and started "painting" with wool and silk. She combines skills in wet felting, by layering up wool, with her love of embroidery and passion for colour.
Janice's work is heavily influenced by the the countryside around her home in County Durham. She particularly loves re-creating beautiful pastures of wild flowers and says it's the colour that brightens her world every single day.
"My creativity is my life force – it brings me joy and happiness and has introduced me to a world I had never imagined", she added.
Each piece is a one-off, so totally unique. Janice sources the Merino wool she uses from reputable local suppliers and she recycles and reuses silk threads from vintage silk saris.
Her work is now exhibited and sold in local galleries and shops to visitors from all over the world. Prints and cards of her pieces are available. See more of her work below and visit her website by clicking the button below.
