Beyond the Byre

Husband and wife team, David and Carolyn Asquith are the designers behind Beyond the Byre. 

Working from their studio is on the outskirts of Blanchland village, which sits just north of the County Durham Border, they specialise in copper, silver and enamel jewellery.

Carolyn recently retired after more than 20 years teaching Art and Design in a special needs setting and now works mainly in enamel, creating earrings and pendants from metal clay. Her designs are hand-painted making each one unique.

David still works part-time and spends his downtime creating copper and silver bangles and rings. He enjoys the process of mark-making to personalise each piece of jewellery.
